Farmers Fight Silver Coin
Humanity does not live in a vacuum. We are dependent on each other for our very existence. One man cannot flourish without the help of others. After air, water and sunlight, food is the next most vital element necessary for mankind’s survival. And, the men who farm are essential participants in that effort.
God provided air, water and sunlight in abundance, but he left the procurement of food up to humanity itself. Originally, mankind were hunters and gatherers. This required a concerted effort on men’s part to locate a reliable source of food, whether it be fish, on foot or in the terra firma. Not only did this prove difficult, it also proved to be an unreliable, unpredictable and exhausting pursuit as well. This dilemma eventually led to mankind’s creation of settlements.
Once the men chose a location in which to settle, they cleared the land of weeds, both vegetative and animal, and began planting and harvesting crops. Although this situation now required a defensive perimeter, it was still preferable to the unreliability of wandering around seeking and gathering food.
Some men became proficient in this effort and were not only able to feed their own families but others as well. This spawned bartering with neighbors and this process eventually expanded beyond their neighborhoods, resulting in trade between communities and finally other countries. Today, starving to death is no longer a fear for the vast majority of humanity because of the historic endurance, tenacity and the sheer determination to beat- the-odds that defines most farmers. Through their profound personal efforts, they literally feed the world. Humanity is thriving, and prosperous, solely because of small farm family’s devotion to their trade, and by association, the world at-large.
Today, small farm families are still the backbone of our advanced agricultural system. Most of these men specialize in a few crops, allowing them to trade both locally and globally. Today, as always, producing a good yield to make the harvest profitable is still a delicate balancing act dictated by Mother Nature. And, despite the farmer’s best efforts, it can all be destroyed overnight due to the unpredictability of the weather. Unfortunately, no one has yet figured out a process to offset that inevitability. Farming remains a risk laden business.
But, despite the risks, long hours, hard work and vagaries of the weather, men love farming as much today as at any time in history. For most, it’s not only a tradition within their families, it’s in their very blood. And for this, we should all be profoundly grateful because the vast majority of humanity no longer grows their own food! So, without the farmer’s selfless efforts, the feast would quickly turn to famine.
Unfortunately, unlike at any time in recorded history, the small farmers are now under attack throughout the EU, and in United States, by socialist fanatics who not only fail to understand the precarious and vital contributions farmers make to our daily lives but actually see them as a threat! And more insidiously, these out-of-touch crazies consider farmers a threat to the ENVIRONMENT! Their ultimate plan is to implement “green policies” that would put many farmers out of business, while large socialist cooperatives would move in to gobble up the remains. Do we really want our entire food supply controlled by government? Absolutely NOT! They could literally use that control to starve their opponents into compliance!
The idea that farmers are a threat to the environment would be laughable, if it weren’t so deadly an issue. In reality, there is no more a sensitive group of environmentalists on earth than farmers. Unlike the elite bureaucrats, these men’s lives are literally defined, affected, manipulated, enhanced and totally dependent on the environment. They would be the first to set off an alarm if the environment were suddenly devastating their crops. This is because they are on the front lines and understand the normal, versus abnormal, fluctuations of weather patterns better than anyone else on earth.
As a result of this unprecedented, and unjustified, attack on the farmer’s livelihoods through the implementation of higher energy costs and “green” policies, hundreds of farmers recently drove through the centers of most of the large European cities to vividly demonstrate their opposition to these real-world, politically-motivated threats to their very livelihoods.
As Chris’ poignant silver proof, “Farmers Fight” summarizes so succinctly, “No Farmers, No Food, No Future.”
