2026 Year of the Fire Horse Silver Round
Chris continues his Chinese Lunar Calendar Series with the release of the second of his Year of the Horse rounds. Although the title, The Year of the Horse Version 4, indicates that it is the fourth version of this strike, the proofs are not being released sequentially. As a result, Version 2 and Version 3 will be unveiled later this year.
2026 "Year of the Fire Horse V4" Silver Proof Coin, by Chris Duane
This current Version 4 design highlights this year’s Year of the Horse, but it also includes a unique component of the 2026 Lunar Calendar horse. It is, more specifically, called the Year of the Fire Horse because this year is both the year of the horse and the year of the Fire horse as well. Unlike the normal cycle of the Chinese Zodiac calendar where the animals are on a rotating 12 year cycle, the Fire Horse only occurs once every 60 years. The last time we saw the Fire Horse was in 1966 and we will not see this sign again until 2086.
As many of you know, each animal of the zodiac is defined by one of the elements - Metal (0/1), Water (2/3), Wood (4/5), Fire (6/7) and Earth (8/9). As noted, they are assigned according to the birth year. The horse is defined by the element of fire and people who are born under the sign of the horse are believed to be energetic and independent. But this year, the people born under the unique sign of the Fire Horse are expected to become very energetic. They will also possess an abundance of confidence and the ability to accomplish their goals with great speed.

Chris’ flaming horse, The Year of the Horse Version 4, dramatically expresses the Fire Horse’s speed, power, courage and freedom as it charges into an unknown future. This sign can also represent great upheaval as well. Anyone who was alive in 1966, when the last Fire Horse was here, remembers that it was the beginning of a wave of tremendous social revolution that swamped America. 2026 is proving to follow suit. But rather than define the turmoil created by the rejection of their parent’s values by the Baby Boomers, today’s social disorder highlights the growing divide among Americans themselves. We find ourselves arguing about which path will define our entire country's future, not just the relationship between children and their parents.
So, just as in 1966, we find ourselves at another crossroad. Where we go from here could either blow our fire out, or blast us into an amazing future. Let’s hope that those of you who were born under the last Fire Horse, and are now 60 years old, light your fire once again and guide the country with courage and speed towards continued freedom and prosperity for all.
