The zodiac signs are repeated in a 12 year cycle which is based on the lunar calendar. These include the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. Chinese legend states that the order of their zodiac was determined during a “Great Race”, which was organized by the supreme ruler of Heaven, the Jade Emperor. The Chinese refer to the 12 signs of the zodiac as Shengxiao or Shuxiang which, when translated into English, means “born resembling”. This included the country's nobility and their military commanders. As a result, the Chinese believe that the individual's Horse sign portends a future as a political leader and/or a military hero. The Horse also brings with it some downsides, including a predisposition towards impatience, which is considered the most annoying aspect of the sign.
